Shital Rane
Owner and Administrator

Shital Rane is the owner and administrator of Home Care Assistance of Philadelphia, and has earned a Master’s in Business Administration and Mathematics. At 23, Shital moved to Pennsylvania and made a life for herself with her husband and two highly-involved daughters. Shital has worked on the Lehigh University and Moravian College campuses, and has over a decade of community volunteering experience. She has been on the Community Advisory Committee and has been an active member of the Parent Teacher Organizations in all elementary, middle and high school levels of the district. For years, she has taught art lessons and yoga lessons to adults and children in the community.

Shital grew up in a small family in India with her parents, two siblings, and grandparents. She helped with caring for her grandmother, who was confined to her house and was unable to stand for 25 years due to severe arthritis. Before her grandfather struggled with Alzheimer’s, she learned many valuable life lessons from him. He would continuously tell stories, full of wisdom that only an elderly person would possess, during the morning hours when they would go on walks to see the sun rise, to evening hours after the lights would go out. “We were really spoiled with those stories,” Shital proclaims with a smile as she reminisces of those special times. It was there where her love and care for the elderly began. With aging in-laws and parents with diabetic, arthritis, vision, and hearing loss conditions, she has made it a point to travel back home during the summers to help. Although it has proven very difficult to do, she goes as often as she can.

As the owner of the Home Care Assistance of Philadelphia location, Shital is intimately aware of the challenges distant caregiving to loved ones poses. She is passionate about relieving some worries and stress from families with aging parents. She is determined to change the way the world ages, one client at a time.

Sunil Rane
Director of Business Development

Sunil Rane is the Director of Business Development at Home Care Assistance of Philadelphia. Sunil moved to Pennsylvania in 1992, and earned a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University, while simultaneously working on campus. He started his career with Bell Labs, and worked in various research and operations management roles in the semiconductor industry for over 17 years. In his free time, Sunil loves to swim, practice mindfulness, yoga, and meditation, and hike trails with his dogs.

Sunil put his engineering career on hold, and went to India for long periods of time to provide support for his father who was suffering due to prostate cancer. After he passed, he helped to transition his mother to be able to live independently. Sunil learned a lot about caregiving by caring for his mother. He also supported his older sister through her very aggressive journey with breast cancer, while helping her children and managing her estate.

Sunil and his siblings took turns returning to India to care for their mother, but eventually they realized that they needed some extra help. Even though they would like to be the only people taking care of their mother, they found that getting home care services would be the best way to maintain their mother’s lifestyle to keep her dignity and independence intact. For the last three years, his mother has been enjoying her freedom with her caregiver, with frequent visits from Sunil and his siblings.

Sunil’s experiences with his family sparked his passion for giving the best experience possible to the aging community of Greater Philadelphia. As a personal user of a caregiver service, Sunil is very intimately aware of the challenges that families face while going through this process, and is very passionate about providing the same quality care as he would like for his own mother.
