The classes some of the participants took included an hour of yoga each week and 20 minutes each day performing Kirtan Kriya, a centuries-old type of mediation originating in India that involves singing certain sounds while making repetitive finger movements. During subsequent MRI tests, researchers observed physical changes in brain connectivity in participants who practiced the combination of yoga and meditation.
